CDBF 2008 RACES WILL INCLUDE SEVERAL DIVISIONS!

Competitive divisions will consist of ~500m races in BuK-style (Hong Kong) boats and teams must have or arrange for their own coxswains. Competition will consist of two seeding time trial races on Saturday and at least two races on Sunday to determine the winners.
The Novice and Youth divisions will be a double-elimination bracket on a ~250m course using flag-catching boats.
Here is a description of the divisions:
Competitive Mixed:
- All paddlers must be at least 18 years of age by the festival
- Must have at least 8 male and 8 female paddlers (20 possible total)
- Must have a drummer and coxswain
- Most of the team members should have at least 2 years experience in dragon boat racing
- At least two on-water training sessions with the full team is recommended
Novice Mixed:
- All paddlers must be at least 18 years of age by the festival
- Must have at least 8 male and 8 female paddlers (18 possible total)
- Must have a drummer and flag catcher: we will supply the coxswains
- Most of the team consists of people new to dragon boat racing or with less than 2 years experience
- At least one on-water training session with the full team is recommended
Youth Mixed:
- All paddlers must be at least 13 and less than 18 years by the festival
- Must have at least 8 male and 8 female paddlers (18 possible total)
- Must have a drummer and flag catcher: we will supply the coxswains
- At least one on-water training session with the full team is recommended
Corporate Mixed:
- All paddlers must be at least 18 years of age by the festival
- Must have at least 8 male and 8 female paddlers (18 possible total)
- Must have a drummer and flag catcher: we will supply the coxswains
- Teams are typically companies with several experienced paddlers but many novice paddlers
- The teams join this to get their company recognized and/or for a recreational activity
- At least one on-water training session with the full team is recommended
