Welcome to the Colorado Dragon Boat Festival
First-time festival-goers and returning participants alike, numbering over 100,000, enjoyed two beautiful sunny days at the 8th Annual Colorado Dragon Boat Festival at Sloan’s Lake Park in northwest Denver, July 26-27. Festive sounds included Japanese taiko drums and dragons dancing mixed with hip hop and Bollywood pop, along with cheers from the crowds as they watched the race teams paddle furiously to the finish. Colorful kimonos, hand-painted scrolls and paper lanterns fluttered in the afternoon breeze to attract shoppers. And if food was your goal, there were treats to please any palate, from curries, pad thai and lumpia to gyros, BBQ and cheese fries. All this celebration of Asian Pacific nations was set against the magnificent backdrop of the Rocky Mountains… a sight not to be missed next year! Mark your calendars now for the 9th Annual Colorado Dragon Boat Festival on July 25-26, 2009. Thanks to all of our 2008 sponsors, performers, paddlers, participants and volunteers. We’ll see you again next July on the lake!
