2010 CULINARY CONTEST WINNERS!

Bam-Bu Taste of Asia Food CourtEach year, we assign a panel of judges a very tough job -- eat their way through the Taste of Asia food court and decide the winners of our Culinary Contest. It's a tough job, but somebody's got to do it! This year, the Culinary Contest judges were veteran Denver restaurateur Leo Goto (a past CDBF Honorary Patron), News 7 TV chef Mick Rosacci of Tony's Market, and Denver Post Saturday Features Editor Elana Ashanti Jefferson.

The judges rate dishes from the Taste of Asia for 1) Relevance to Asian Culture; 2) Creativity; 3) Presentation; 4) Overall Taste; 5) Great Value and 6) Challenge of Preparation.

After much deliberation and tantalizing taste tests, our judges chose the 2010 Culinary Contest winners:

Third Place Meal: Bam-Bu (Fire chicken & Noodle Bowl)

Second Place Meal: Savory Saigon (Saigon Slaw)

FIRST PLACE MEAL : Queen of Vietnamese Martyrs Church (Sampler Combo)

Third Place Dessert: Berrie Kabob (Berrie Kabob)

Second Place Dessert: Tropical Paradise (Laotian Sweet Rice in Bamboo Stick)

FIRST PLACE DESSERT : Bam-Bu (Lym Lyt Frozen Yogurt)

Congratulations to the Culinary Contest Winners, and we hope you'll all return next year!

2010 Colorado Dragon Boat Festival
Taste of Asia Food Vendors

tatse of asiaOne of the ongoing highlights of each year's Colorado Dragon Boat Festival has been the opportunity to eat your way across Asia and the Pacific Islands -- bite by bite. Over the years, Taste of Asia has featured vendors serving up the cuisines of China, Korea, Vietnam, Philippines, India, Japan, Hawai'i, Laos, Thailand and oh yes, the good ol' USA (and Mexico!).

In 2001, the first year of the Festival, we only had five food vendors on hand. Without a track record, it was difficult to convince restaurants to set up shop at our debut event. But that first, one-day CDBF was a bit hit, and those five vendors all ran out of food by the afternoon!

This year, we're featuring 18 food vendors spanning the diversity of cultures you've come to expect fropm us. You'll find some vendors who have become popular regulars over the years: Lollicup Tea Zone with their Boba drinks, Thai Pepper's "Monkey Balls" (pork and beef meatballs deepfried and then grilled) and Tropical Paradise's unique Laotian specialities. This year also marks the return of several popular area restaurants to the Taste of Asia: Imperial Chinese Seafood Restaurant, bd's Mongolian Grill and Chez Thuy are all back.

Plus, you'll find some new dishes to try at first-time vendors like Bam-Bu, with their beautiful pan-Asian food truck, serving a variety of cuisines and delicious Lym Lyt Frozen Yoghurt!

Save up your appetite and take a 10th -year tour of the best that Asian food has to offer!

Here's a list of this year's Taste of Asia vendors:
