Mediator, Hmong Interpreter, & Advocate
Yangmee Lor, a first-generation Hmong American woman, is a passionate advocate for equity, cultural understanding, and mental health, with a focus on underserved and underrepresented communities. She holds a Bachelor’s in Organizational Leadership and brings expertise as a Certified Mediator and Professional Hmong Interpreter. Her work centers on fostering inclusion, building community resilience, and addressing bias-motivated hate crimes, particularly within hard-to-reach AANHPI populations across Colorado and beyond.
One of her most significant accomplishments is organizing and leading the first-ever Mental Health Equity Summit for Hmong Women through Hmong Women Lead. This historical groundbreaking event, the first of its kind for Hmong women globally, empowered participants to overcome barriers, honortheir cultural identity, and embark on a journeytoward forgiveness, healing,and empowerment. The summit showcased a commitment to addressing the mental health disparities faced by Hmong women around the world.
Known as a culturalbridge, she plays a key role in buildingtrust and strengthening relationships between AANHPI communities, government entities, and law enforcement agencies. Through leading the United Against Hate: Building a Comprehensive Response to Hate Crimes initiative, she ensures that language access, culturally competent resources and support networks are accessible. Her work has transformed community dialogues into concrete actions, including outreach, education, prevention efforts, and culturally appropriate victim assistance. This includes leading the Acts of Kindness campaign, which promotes kindness as a powerful tool to counter hate, grounded in the belief that kindnessis the antidote to hate.
She serves on influential boards that drive both crisis response and cultural preservation efforts. Appointed by Colorado Governor Jared Polis to the 988 Crisis Hotline Enterprise Board of Directors, she helps shape crisis response strategies that promote culturally diverse and community-driven solutions. As a board member of the National Lao-Hmong Memorial Foundation, she is contributing to the creation of a lasting memorial in Colorado that will honorthe legacy and sacrifices of the Lao-Hmong people during the U.S. Secret War in Laos, fostering historical awareness and ensuring these communities' stories and contributions are not forgotten.
Yangmee is the Founder and CEO of PABNEEG (People's Advisory Board for New Educational and Economic Goodwill), a Hmong-founded 501(c)(3) that supports low-to-no-income ethnic communities, focusing on the local Colorado Hmong, AAPI, and BIPOC populations. 'Pab Neeg' means 'helping people' in Hmong, and the organization’s vision is to help victims, survivors, and those in poverty achieve liberty and dignity. She continues to lead collaborative initiatives to empower individuals and organizations, creating inclusive, united communities globally.
